So all I can say is this: If you do purchase something off websites like iStockphoto, most of the time the person you are purchasing off would love to see how you are using their image/item. So why not drop them a link and show them!

This has been great working on this, as I am currently (slowly) learning PHP and WordPress, so I can do my own coding!

I can’t wait to see some more content on this site, as I think it could be a major success. The blog’s author is my other half, who I believe is a fantastic writer.

I highly recommend checking out this site and leaving a comment or two – it will really help him stay motivated!

Happy New Year everyone! I cannot believe it is 2010 - my does time fly!

Although it's a little late, I have sat down in front of my computer and written down a list of things I want to achieve this year. It's a lot, compared to previous lists of mine, but I am hoping I can stay focused, organised and creative, and stick to all of these. I am being brutally honest with myself, and I feel that listing these on this blog will help me achieve them.

Happy New Year everyone! I cannot believe it is 2010 – my does time fly!

Although it’s a little late, I have sat down in front of my computer and written down a list of things I want to achieve this year. It’s a lot, compared to previous lists of mine, but I am hoping I can stay focused, organised and creative, and stick to all of these. I am being brutally honest with myself, and I feel that listing these on this blog will help me achieve them.

And now, without further ado:

Take 1 photograph everyday minimum

Upload at least one item to GraphicRiver a month (can upload 2 in 1 month if it is missed)

Upload at least one item to ThemeForest a quarter (every 3 months)

Upload 30 new items (photos or vectors) to iStockphoto before the end of the year

Deactivate unwanted items from iStockphoto

Lose 33kgs (Getting back into eating right and healthy, and exercising)

Relax and keep my fluctuating emotions in check

So the last two are quite personal, but I really want to knuckle down and improve myself – not only professionally (as that is what the first 5 are) but also personally.

So today is the 4th, and so far I am doing well. I have signed myself up for MyFitnessPal, started a new Picasa album for my picture-a-day, and am waiting on confirmation of my first file to GraphicRiver for January.

Do you have new years resolutions? Or even resolutions for the new decade? And if so, what are they?

I’ve had a somewhat strange (in parts), but also very fulfilling year this 2009, and I wanted to thank everyone who has taken a part of it in one way or another. Starting and leaving one job, working for myself for almost 2 months and starting a second job – it’s been crazy!

So to those who may read this, Merry Christmas. I hope you all have a lovely break, drive and be safe and eat lots of yummy food!

Recently I did a photoshoot at a factory, taking shots of the workers busily creating valves and the factory as a whole. The photography is for an up-coming website, so there were certain things that needed photographing, but otherwise I had a good solid few hours, with free range of the factory to get some action shots.

I decided to show you some snippets of a couple of photographs from the day. They may not be “pretty”, but these guys work hard and are the best at what they do.

It was a really good morning! I got some fantastic photos, which will enhance the client’s website (which I am also creating).
This is a great example of work that I can do. You don’t have to be a corporate business to hire a photographer. If you’ve got something worth doing, it’s worth showing people how you do it!

This really is a great game, and I highly recommend you check it out.

It is fun, easy to learn and highly addictive, and only costs a few dollars. The link provided will initiate iTunes to open

For more information on the game itself, check out the official Orbital Defence page which also has screenshots and a game play video!

Last week I put the finishing touches on a great little website for a company called membraine studios. They’re a new, upcoming iPhone and iPod Touch game development business who have submitted their first game to the Apple Store for review.

Being able to do a site like this where I have no previous design to contend with is fantastic. The guys in membraine knew what they wanted, but were open to suggestions and ideas from my end, allowing a great website to be produced, but also fit in with their limitations.

I put a lot of effort behind the scenes into this little site. Because this is a fresh and squeaky clean site with no previous hierarchy, it has been created to be flexible to growth and style changes. It is also easy to update, as long as you have a little knowledge of XHTML and CSS (as it has not been put into a CMS platform).

So please help me in welcoming membraine studios to the ‘net! I cannot wait for their first game, Orbital Defence to become available on the Apple iTunes Store, as I’m sure it will take off and become a huge success

This is a blog for the popular video game franchise, Street Fighter. Getting a heap of visitors each day, it was a great challenge for me to make the site clean and functional, but have the element of the game within it.

In the end, I personally think the static background image works fantastically for this site, and I am more than pleased with the result, and so is my client.

I also created the logo for this site. Wanting something to match the style of the game (anime super-powered fighting) I experimented with many different fonts and styles, but after showing this font to the client he fell in love with it instantly.

The fireball was based on moves within the game itself, and brings a great element into the name.

Please visit the site at www.hadoken.net. It is a great website with a great community, and it is updated regularly!

So as I have discussed previously via my Facebook fan page and my twitter feed, I’ve recently discovered and fallen in love with the envato marketplaces, namely GraphicRiver and ThemeForest.
These two specific websites are dedicated to sales and purchasing of website templates (both PSD files and full HTML/Wordpress/etc versions), assorted imagery and web elements, and a whole host of other things.

After investigating these websites extensively, I decided to apply to become an author and try my hand at selling my own files. To my pleasure, I passed the quiz, and have so far successfully submitted two simple “Twitter Backgrounds” to GraphicRiver for sale!

Professional Twitter Background – This has proven to be quite a little success, so far selling 19 copies (at the time of writing). It’s a cheap little gem, which has seen one example of a buyer putting it to use here: @danielku.

Purple Magic Twitter BG – At the time of writing, this has been unsuccessful with sales, as it has been on sale for almost a week with zero sales. I think it is quite quirky, and after fiddling with tags and search items, I’m hoping a few people might enjoy it!

I’m hoping that with the sudden amount of free time I am now facing (this is a long story; I won’t go into detail here!) I can start getting more things sent to GraphicRiver, and also get a few websites into ThemeForest!

With this, please head over to my new, but small (for now!) section of my website envato!

Enjoy!
